I am totally sold on the idea of re-usable shopping bags. I have been really good about NOT bringing anymore plastic shopping bags into the house. Many states have already put a tax on the use of plastic shopping bags and/or the disposal of and numerous countries have banned them. Right now our house uses a variety of re-useable shopping bags, but my favorite is for sale here on my website.
Here are just a few reasons to stop using plastic shopping bags.
· Millions of trees are cut to make grocery bags
· Millions of barrels of oil are used to make plastic grocery bags
· Bags fill up landfills and litter your cities
· Plastic bags are NOT biodegradable
· Plastic bags pollute our waters and harm marine life
The grocery bags are uniquely made so that they clip over the edge of the grocery cart. Two fit nicely in most standard shopping carts. They are great to use. I unload my groceries from the cart to pay, then I put the two bags into the cart. I usually use one for cold stuff and the other for everything else. Each bag will hold up to 50 pounds. When I get to the car I put the two bags into the trunk and that's it. Then when you get home it's just two trips (or one if you are really ambitious!) to get everything into the house.
